Ensuring the ethical use of AI-generated content, especially in contexts like deepfakes and misinformation, involves several strategies and considerations:

Transparency: Clearly label AI-generated content. Users should be able to easily distinguish between content created by humans and content generated by AI. This helps in setting the right expectations and understanding the origin of the information.

Consent and Privacy: Obtain consent from individuals whose likeness (e.g., voice, image) is used to create AI-generated content. This is crucial in preventing unauthorized use of personal attributes, especially in sensitive or personal contexts.

Regulations and Guidelines: Adhere to legal and regulatory standards governing the use of AI. Many jurisdictions are considering or have implemented regulations that address the creation and dissemination of AI-generated content, including deepfakes.

Ethical AI Practices: Implement and follow ethical guidelines for AI development and deployment. This includes ensuring that AI systems are fair, non-discriminatory, and do not propagate biases. Organizations like the IEEE, ACM, and others provide frameworks and guidelines for ethical AI.

Verification Tools: Use or develop tools that can detect AI-generated content. These tools can help platforms and end-users identify manipulated content before it spreads, thus mitigating potential harm.

Education and Awareness: Educate users about the capabilities and risks associated with AI-generated content. Understanding how AI works and recognizing its potential misuse can empower users to critically assess the content they consume.

Content Provenance: Implement digital provenance tools that track and verify the source of digital content. This can help establish the authenticity of content circulating online.

Industry Collaboration: Collaborate across the tech industry to develop standards and best practices for responsibly creating and sharing AI-generated content. This includes sharing knowledge about threats and defense mechanisms.

Continuous Monitoring: Regularly review the impact of AI-generated content and adapt policies as necessary. This dynamic approach can respond to evolving technologies and misuse patterns.

These measures, collectively, can help mitigate risks associated with AI-generated content and encourage its use in a manner that is ethical, responsible, and aligned with societal values.

Soucr:- http://bweducation.businessworld.in/

In times like now, we have an increasing amount of modern technological advancement all over the world. Some say it’s a blessing and some argue calling it a curse. Though, the idea of development gets a huge boost when there is an efficient approach to the technology involved. Many sectors across the world are enjoying their piece of success through technology and computer science enhancements. The new age of technological advancement is said to be AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning).

The last few years have been revolutionary for technology and an introduction to AI and ML was just the head start mankind needed. ML and AI have been supporting many sectors providing the comfort of accuracy and efficiency. But the educational sector has been under a solid rejuvenation mode over the last few years. Bringing AI and ML into education is proving to be revolutionary as well as profitable. In the education sector, teaching, and learning have become more attractive and advanced after the introduction of AI and ML. Experts say it is only a mere waiting period till we see a complete take-over by AI and ML in the educational sector.

According to a survey by Market Research Future (MRFR), there will be a 38 per cent increase in growth in the educational sector by the year 2023. It is important to understand that technological advancement is going to take over the education sector in the future. So, the implementation of AI and ML in the education sector is extremely important to create a great affinity with the coming future.

AI and ML are filling up the void of real-time content management and feedback responses in many sectors. The educational sector is one of them and chatbots are one such common tool that is giving a basic helping hand to feed real-time data reverting from the websites. Many educational institutions use chatbots and also certain software which enhances their content for better ranking. So generating leads, content management, managing feedback, etc. are key spaces that the educational sector will look forward to in the coming years.

Some ways AI and ML will change and take over the educational sector in the upcoming years:

Increase in Efficiency and Accuracy

Classroom management, scheduling, and other records are stored more efficiently. Recording all the necessary details are more accurate as AI and ML usage eradicates the majority of human error.

Analyzing student and staff behaviour and progress gets convenient

A proper analysis of the students and staff is important to enhance the learning and coexisting experience in the educational sector. The student who is facing difficulties is more accurately analyzed and helped due to their pinpoint record keeping and observation.

Also, much like students, even staff need to analyze their performance in the field so that they rectify their mistakes and work for the betterment of the sector. And the regularity of the maintenance is constant only due to AI and ML.

Enhanced Learning Experience

The learning experience changes when AI and ML are utilized. The sense of personalized learning was envied by students earlier, but now it seems like each system is paying attention to one student at a time.

Reaching a fair conclusion of the assessments

In the student curriculum, the difficult job is to assess the assessments while rectifying the mistakes and keeping a record of them. With AI and ML, the assignments are distributed fairly and a student’s assignment is analyzed accurately so that the grading system is organized and full of transparency.

Henceforth, AI and ML are just the headstarts of something great. Also, the advancement process is not going to stop anytime soon. Since the beginning of the advancements, the education sector has provided aspirants who are practically and logically skilled for their respective professional fields. The skills are easier to nourish and sharpen when there is the support of advancing technology. Thus, AI and ML will not only help the educational sector to improve but also will help students and staff to sustain themselves with developing times.

Demand for data science professionals is growing, and educational institutions such as the Nanyang Technology University (NTU) have started offering interdisciplinary offerings that incorporate data science with topics such as economics.

But can good data scientists be churned out by simply putting them through a curriculum or having them sit through some certification?

In a contributed opinion piece to The Business Times, David Hardoon, a senior advisor in data and artificial intelligence for UnionBank argues that the diversification and complexity of data science pose a real challenge to data science education.

Data science is a complex field

“[Data science] is a hybrid of statistics, machine learning, and data mining, and covers programming languages, technology frameworks, development platforms, as well as visualization tools,” writes Hardoon.

“How does one balance the multiplicity of areas, covering them with sufficient depth in order to produce a well-rounded data scientist who can provide impactful value to a future employer?”

Indeed, in an article earlier this year titled “Placing ‘Practice’ at the Center of Data Science Education”, Eric Kolaczyk, Haviland Wright, and Masanao Yajima described the downsides of typical postsecondary training approaches in core data science fields.

Practice is treated as something that is done only to capstone projects or as a finale, they wrote, and this results in “students, upon exiting academia, needing a nontrivial ramping-up period before they can truly have an impact with their first employers.”

Having helmed or served in advisor roles to a diverse range of organizations in Singapore such as the Corrupt Investigation Practices Bureau (CPIB), the Central Provident Fund (CPF), and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Hardoon notes that this feedback is common and goes beyond the degree itself and into the practical applications of the coursework.

“The majority of data scientists, upon completion of their education, still require a hands-on education at their place of employment to refine their learned skills to practical necessities… a freshly minted, well-rounded data scientist is unlikely to hit the ground running at their first employ despite a presumption otherwise,” he wrote.

A call for change

To help data scientists close this gap and produce effective work quickly upon completion of training, organizations might want to consider operationalizing data science by identifying key data science roles within the organization, suggests Hardoon.

One solution is to segregate between key components of data science operations, with the creation of roles. Some examples: Data science developer (Focus on data science methodologies and techniques), data science engineer (Focus on data piping, data quality, and data ingestion), data science solution architect (Deep understanding of platforms and data enterprise architecture), and data science storyteller (Focus on data visualization with strong business acumen).

Alternatively, existing data science programs can be tailored to offer greater depth with a focus on niche areas or professional specialization to better reflect the maturity of the data science field today, Hardoon notes.

Don’t expect this to happen tomorrow, though. While we do see data science moving in the direction suggested by Hardoon, these changes will take time yet to fully materialize.

In the meantime, employers may just have to accept that a newly minted data scientist is unlikely to produce valuable, actionable insights from day one – or even the first few months. To help a new data science hire get started quicker, additional on-the-ground training is essential.

We all know the famous quote — “The future belongs to the curious,” and Siddharth Maheshwari, the director of Amity Future Academy, believes it holds true for the field of data science as well.

Amity Future Academy offers numerous courses in the field of data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and business analytics in collaboration with global universities like eCornell, Wharton Online, UC Berkeley Online, to name a few. The university has faculties with more than 20 years of industry and mentoring experience who provide one-on-one mentoring to students. Further, Amity teaches in-demand tools and techniques like Tableau, big data and Power BI in addition to machine learning algorithms.

For this week’s interview, Analytics India Magazine got in touch with Siddharth to understand his views on the emerging data science market and how data science aspirants can embark on their journey.

An alumnus of IIM Bangalore, Siddharth is currently working as the director at Amity Future Academy, heading the emerging technology training portfolio in data, analytics, AI, cybersecurity, blockchain, product development and digital marketing. He is also the author of The Billion Minds – India’s Quest to Train a Billion Workforce. BM India has also enlisted Siddharth on the Edtech 40 under 40 list.

AIM: What are your views on the data science education market in India?

Siddharth Maheshwari: We know that India is considered an agro-based economy, but the key contributor to the GDP has always been the service sector. And the service sector’s driving force in India is education. There are around 3.66 crores of graduates every year, as per the statistical review, and the numbers increase considerably every year. So, there is a vast gap in demand and supply if we look at the graduates and the industry’s demand.

With rising complexity and competition, the problems need to be optimised with modern-day solutions and higher-level statistical algorithms. Analytical courses in data science, machine learning, and business analytics can provide us with solutions to solve such problems with highly advanced algorithms, real-time outputs and considerable insights. This, in turn, bridges the gap between graduates and the industry, thus giving a huge market for education institutes in the field of data science.

In the last decade, there has been a substantial rise in student enrolment and work requirements in the field of data science in India compared to the global economy. Amity Future Academy has exclusive batches devoted to students abroad, and a lot of students are enrolling and improving their present skills.

AIM: What are the most significant challenges a university faces in instrumenting a data science and analytics course?

Siddharth Maheshwari: The most critical challenge for a university to instrument a data science and analytics course is to create a skilled and experienced faculty pool that can train the professionals and students on the latest tools and technologies along with the wisdom of industry expertise.

In our data science and analytics courses, we make sure that we onboard only the faculties passionate and experienced in the analytics industry. We believe in the famous quote: “teaching is not a profession; it’s a passion.” And therefore, without passion for your subject and a desire for your students to learn, we will fail as a teacher and failure is never an option.

AIM: Do you think the COVID pandemic has pushed more people into data science courses?

Siddharth Maheshwari: Yes, I believe the COVID pandemic has massively surged the demand for data science courses. Due to the regulations placed to fight against the COVID pandemic, we have experienced a tectonic shift in every employee’s working habits as we moved from our offices to work from home culture. With traditional data architecture and models, it becomes difficult for organisations to take care of data and make decisions effectively. Hence, enterprises have realised the necessity for solutions to access and manage an outsized volume of knowledge. Thus, it created more opportunities for data scientists who specialised in data-driven objectives to realise data insights and pushed people to seek more data science courses.

AIM: How can governments and corporations encourage more students to select data science subjects?

Siddharth Maheshwari: To encourage more students, the government and corporations can create targeted outreach efforts, exposing students to STEM occupations before they take their first step of choosing math or science courses. It will assist them in learning important information about STEM majors and the way they translate to careers.

Alongside, they should provide all requisites and help colleges to create clear pathways for data science students to easily transition from high school, junior colleges to undergraduate/bachelor’s degree, which can result in a better response to the field.

AIM: What are the major obstacles plaguing data and analytics education in India?

Siddharth Maheshwari: The biggest barrier to data and analytics education in India is the lack of awareness of the programs. There is no knowledge of such programs’ presence and effectiveness to a substantial chunk of our population. The course fee is yet another consideration, as these courses are a little heavy on a middle-class individual’s pockets. So, for those who are not only genuinely interested but also willing to pave their path, we have come up with a few scholarships that eliminate this obstacle.

In addition to these, other factors include the lack of faculty expertise.

AIM: What advice would you like to give to aspiring data scientists?

Siddharth Maheshwari: The aspiring data scientists should look for the problems they might be surrounded by and how they can use their knowledge to solve those problems. Hence, problems build curiosity and make people know more about the field, which serve as a driving force to start their learning journey.

To begin with data science, one must brush up their knowledge of linear algebra, the basics of statistics and probability. I also want to add that do not get demotivated by the programming languages and the AI-driven smart tools that candidates will have to learn to be a data scientist or for similar roles.

AIM: What is your projection of the growth of AI and big data analytics education in the future?

Siddharth Maheshwari: Looking at the heights of the technological innovations that we humans have achieved in the past few decades for improving the quality of human life by implementing the advancing technologies in day to day life — from driverless cars to space travel and now by exploring Mars, it is clear that the AI and machine learning industry has an excellent future.

Talking about big data, the industry is expected to grow twice in the near future, creating many lucrative opportunities for the people interested in the field.

AIM: Who should seek a career in data science? What does the future look like for someone who takes it up now?

Siddharth Maheshwari: As data science is not restricted to any particular domain, the one interested in dealing with the data and already working in data analytics, business analytics, or in database management systems and services should seek a career in data science.

According to the estimates, there is a shortage of data science professionals worldwide. In the coming years, with the growing amount of data on a daily basis coming from different fields and the data produced from IoT, there will be millions of job openings in the field.

In Amity, we provide a wide variety of toolkits and hands-on sessions to make the students job-ready and equip them with the knowledge to tackle any challenges arising in the projects they work for.

AIM: With many online courses and MOOCs available for data science enthusiasts, how does a professional degree make a difference in their career in the long term?

Siddharth Maheshwari: From anyone starting from scratch, MOOCs can offer a general idea of starting the journey and what to expect from the industry. However, a professional degree ensures that the candidate has gone through rigorous supervised training under mentors and industry experts’ close guidance.

In most cases, a MOOC certification might not add that value to the career profile compared to a professional degree, as the monitoring and evaluation are seldom taken care of in MOOCs. Also, placement training is uninsured in MOOCs compared to a degree from a certified and well-collaborated university. A professional degree helps build credibility and ensures that the industry standards were met in the long run.

On the other hand, we moderate student’s progress from time to time and help them take over the challenges in the course. In order to ensure that students are aware of the industry issues, we hold weekly webinars and guest lectures with industry experts, where they can connect with the subject experts one by one. In addition to that, we have a dedicated placement team to help with interview preparation and support them with placements.

Online education when compared against the traditional method adds to the features, and aids teaching methods when AI is used properly.

Online education or not, students love interactive classes where they don’t feel saturated. Artificial intelligence can help create such an interesting, useful platform. The changed world does not limit the age group for learning, and hence there are innumerable and diverse ways of educating oneself through AI. Contrarily, implementation of technology in education also changed the format of teaching-learning experience. So what exact role does AI play in education, and despite the possible discrepancies, what should one expect from online education?

The first and foremost change everyone experiences is the shift of teaching method from linear curriculum to project/skill oriented learning. This ensures that the students would learn the soft skills such as problem solving, effective communication, etc essential in the work life in future. Technology is also said to help in increasing student engagement, although it does not guarantee so.

Better visuals and experiential learning through interactive learning applications help a lot in attracting the attention of students. The cloud feature of AI in virtual learning has the provision of revisiting the lectures and the study material, even after the day is called. Teachers can also personalize the learning experience for each students, as technology facilitates the progress tracking of each student.

Virtual classrooms have the perk of collective intelligence; students can share whatever they find relevant and interesting to a particular concept taught in the class. Again, the involvement in the class depends on the student in the end, all AI can assure is betterment of the chances of that happening. AI opens up many creative gates for both students and teachers. The assignments for students can be out of the box; showcasing their abilities and knowledge beyond the prescribed books, which in turn makes them more confident about their work. Teachers, then, could figure out the inclination of each student from a considerably young age.

This changes the whole dynamic of the education, where teachers can become mentors and guide the students through their careers. The virtual world also reduces expenses such as field trips, guest lectures, etc. Students get to experience various worlds, developing them in all directions and creating an awareness within them. Augmented reality is a branch undergoing advancement at an exponential rate, and it is expected to be included soon in online education.

Online education can also increase family engagement, an important factor in the development of students. Teachers are able to find better material for students online, and improve their performance of instruction through direct/indirect constructive feedback from both parents and students. There are many obstructions in this type of education as of now. There is unequal access to technological gadgets and teachers are yet to understand the best use of AI in teaching. Moreover, too much engagement with devices is leading to a lot of health issues.

Apart from this, implementing AI in our daily lives also require deep knowledge of it. Which means that the curriculum needs to be updated, including technological skills at school level. Students, or everyone, should learn the social sharing skills, sustainable digital presence, ways of data protection, and online collaborative skills for a better and safe future in this specific itinerary.

Source – http://bweducation.businessworld.in/

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is impacting our lives in many ways. We seem to be going into a fascinating world of machines and robots, like some science fiction movie. And what do these machines do? They have been programmed to imitate human behaviour. According to John McCarthy, the father of Artificial Intelligence, it is “The science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs.”

As for Robots, they are programmed to perform tasks, like a human being. Many of them even resemble one! We have already seen how computers can be programmed to complete several tasks with speed and in much less time. They are based on how a human being thinks; they have memory and can recall past actions and can understand languages that human beings use. Indeed, Artificial Intelligence has been used in so many applications today. We are using them in various fields too, as diverse as playing games like chess, making a medical diagnosis, shopping, or for searches on the internet. As for the field of education, Artificial Intelligence promises to make the process of teaching and learning a great experience for both the teacher and the student.

Artificial Intelligence is being used in education in many ways. For one thing, computer programmes can help the student, much like a private tutor, so that the student learns according to his individual needs and gets individual attention. It can help the student to know where effort has to be made and also helps the teacher to know the individual capacity of the student. The teacher can also monitor the student’s performance and know where the weakness lies. In other words, it can be used to help students in the learning process. Experts say that AI can also help teachers in grading students.

Since technology is growing day by day, AI can really make the learning experience more productive. It will take individual differences into account among the students and provide all of them with education, whether the student is very advanced, or just average, or has learning disabilities. Artificial Intelligence systems can be such that the individual’s ability to learn will be considered and the lesson will be presented accordingly. Teaching can be customized through AI systems. Such systems will make it easier for students to get individual attention and certainly reduce stress among students.

AI experts in the field of education also say that the students “receive feedback online or through text messages.” This saves the student, the embarrassment of receiving negative feedbacks in front of classmates. The student can absorb the feedback better and make the recommended effort to change. With a teacher, human feelings may interfere; personal likes and dislikes, bias and prejudices may also influence the teacher. After all, the teacher is a human being! So, in such cases AI can be an advantage.

The fact remains that educators may be hesitant to bring about major changes in the educational and assessment systems. But, we can hardly ignore the solutions presented by Artificial Intelligence.

Source – https://www.analyticsinsight.net/

The classrooms in present era are not only expanding to use more technologies and digital tools but they are also engaging in machine learning

Technology in the classroom is becoming more and more popular as we pass through the 21st century. Laptops are replacing our textbooks, and on our smart phones, we can study just about everything we want. Social media has become ubiquitous, and the way we use technology has changed the way we live our lives fully.

Technology has become the core component of distance education programs. It enhances teachers and students to digitally interconnect and exchange material and student work, retaining a ‘human link’, which is important for the growth of young minds. Enhanced connections and customized experience can allow educators to recognize opportunities for learning skills and enhance the potential of a student.

Hence, the classrooms in present era are not only expanding to use more technologies and digital tools but they are also engaging in machine learning.

Machine learning is an artificial intelligence (AI) element, which lets machines or computers learn from all previous knowledge and make smart decisions. The architecture for machine learning involves gathering and storing a rich collection of information and turning it into a standardized knowledge base for various uses in different fields. Educators could save time in their non-classroom practices in the field of education by concentrating on machine learning.

For instance, teachers may use virtual helpers to work for their students directly from home. This form of assistance helps to boost the learning environment of students and can promote growth and educational success.

According to ODSC, “Last year’s report by MarketWatch has revealed that Machine Learning in education will remain one of the top industries to drive investment, with the U.S. and China becoming the top key players by 2030. Major companies, like Google and IBM, are getting involved in making school education more progressive and innovative.”

Use cases of Machine Learning in education

Analyzing all-round material

By making the content more up-to-date and applicable to an exact request, the use of machine learning in education aims to bring the online learning sector to a new stage. How? ML technologies evaluate the content of courses online and help to assess whether the quality of the knowledge presented meets the applicable criteria. On the other hand, know how users interpret the data and understand what is being explained. Users then obtain the data according to their particular preferences and expertise, and the overall learning experience increases dramatically.

Customized Learning

This is the greatest application of machine learning. It is adaptable and it takes care of individual needs. Students are able to guide their own learning through this education system. They can have their own speed and decide what to study and how to learn. They can select the topics they are interested in, the instructor they want to learn from, and what program they want to pursue, expectations and trends.

Effective Grading

In education, there is another application of machine learning that deals with grades and scoring. Since the learning skills of a large number of students are expressed in each online course, grading them becomes a challenge. ML technology makes the grading process a few seconds problem. In this context, we talk more about the exact sciences. There are places where teachers cannot be replaced by computers, but even in such situations, they can contribute to enhance current approaches of grading and evaluation.

According to TechXplore, “Researchers at University of Tübingen and Leibniz Institute für Wissensmedien in Germany, as well as University of Colorado Boulder, have recently investigated the potential of machine-learning techniques for assessing student engagement in the context of classroom research. More specifically, they devised a deep-neural-network-based architecture that can estimate student engagement by analyzing video footage collected in classroom environments.

They also mentioned that, “We used camera data collected during lessons to teach a deep-neural-network-based model to predict student engagement levels,” Enkelejda Kasneci the leading HCI researcher in the multidisciplinary team that carried out the study, told TechXplore. “We trained our model on ground-truth data (e.g., expert ratings of students’ level of engagement based on the videos recorded in the classroom). After this training, the model was able to predict, for instance, whether data obtained from a particular student at a particular point in time indicates high or low levels of engagement.”

“Artificial intelligence (AI) has a substitutive role – it ensures that difficult, dirty and dangerous work is done more and more by machines and less and less by human beings,” says Professor Frank Pasquale from Brooklyn Law School.

While AI is poised to disrupt our work and lives, these technologies can be harnessed through wise regulation. So rather than replacing individuals, AI should assist them in completing tasks that are more fulfilling or by augmenting work that is often classified as professional.

Can robots replace human intelligence?

Should people be taking more courses like computer science or technical fields that will help them understand AI better?

“Yes, but I don’t think they should replace existing courses. I think that we need to have a more expanded view of education,” says Prof. Pasquale, who will discuss how AI can promote inclusive prosperity at the annual lecture for The Allens Hub for Technology, Law and Innovation at UNSW Sydney on Tuesday 20 October at 11am.

AI can play an important role in education and helping teachers plan and deliver courses – but it is not a replacement.

Similarly in the tax arena, shifting the focus to tax robots is not the right solution. “When it comes to understanding the nuances in tax policies, tax robots are not ideal,” he said.

“We need to have a more well-rounded tax policy that is looking at excessive capital income being taxed, rather than the machines being used to generate that.”

It is also important to question universal basic income, Prof. Pasquale adds: “I think universal basic services is critical because it’s important for the future of labour policy.”

Does AI still need human intervention?

What’s really surprising over the past few years, according to Prof. Pasqual, is how tasks that many assumed would be completed by AI (self-driving cars, for example), are nowhere ready to be adopted en masse.

The self-driving car is itself a warning about issues with AI, he warns. “First, there are the basic technical problems that occur,” he said.

“Secondly, will we have to redesign roads and traffic patterns to accommodate self-driving cars? Do we rely less on public transport, or develop other forms of public transit?

“All of those are not just technical questions, but they’re very deeply political and social questions that involve a lot more than just AI.”

How can AI transform the field of law?

In many simple transactions, AI has the potential to perform work currently undertaken by certain legal personnel, such as the granting of a licence to hunt or fish.

“But there are also areas where AI can be beneficial by assisting current attorneys in deciding which case to bring in, deciding the types of arguments and doing better legal research,” Prof. Pasquale says.

“In various places that are purely financial, I could see another displacement effect where, like in tax law, it might be that we code taxes as opposed to simply having a verbal description of them.”

And Australia’s Robodebt issue, for example, highlighted the fact that excessive automation cannot be achieved successfully without human oversight.

“We have to always keep an eye on it. We’ll see a lot of enthusiasm about automating AI in law, but it’s going to be a slow process,” Prof. Pasquale says.

AI in business

AI has been increasingly playing an important role in business. Some companies, for example, have started using AI in the recruiting process by analysing candidates’ facial expressions, tone of voice and the rate of speech in job interviews.

Such AI is said to be able to determine if an interviewee would be a good employee, based on current employees’ expressions, facial patterns and tone of voice.

“I think that’s troubling because people deserve to be judged on the basis of known characteristics and known qualities, and not on an AI that’s cross-correlating thousands or millions of variables with existing employees.”

Prof. Pasquale refers to it as an ‘alien intelligence’ as it is devoid of human analysis.

However, AI can be of benefit in the medical sector, specifically when it comes to assisting doctors with improving medical diagnoses.

Looking at the Australian healthcare system, Prof. Pasquale says it would make sense to invest in AI capacity, particularly using data that Australia already has.

“Part of the future of the industrial policy of AI is convincing governments to invest in homegrown talent, and to avoid just doing the easy thing and partnering with Google or Facebook or any other big organisation,” he says.

“It is really interesting to see how the use of AI can be different in a county’s industrial strategy”

While AI has the potential to contribute to job losses if poorly planned and timed, medical AI has the power to make labour more valuable and easier.

“I think that if we can envision a future where AI is permitted to increase productivity, and increase the value of labour, then we are on a path to a much happier outcome for everybody,” Prof. Pasquale says.

Prof. Pasquale will further discuss how AI can promote inclusive prosperity at the annual lecture for The Allens Hub for Technology, Law and Innovation at UNSW Sydney on Tuesday 20 October at 11am. You can register for the online event here.
